　書物を読んで聖賢の教えに親しむには、まず気持を清浄にしてかからなければならない。さもないと、せっかく古人の立派な行動や教えに触れても、私利を追求する参考にしたり、欠点をとりつくろう口実にしたりするのが落ちだ。 　これでは、敵に武器を貸し、盗人に食糧を与えるのと、少しも変わりがない。

目的を持って読書をすると学びが捗るのは確かであるが、古典などの聖賢の教えに関しては別物ということだろう。

早朝などに気持ちを落ち着かせて、言葉に触れて腹に落とし込む。

洗脳されろということではなく、過去の自身の行いや周囲の環境を鑑みて反省し、行いを戒める意味で腹に落とし込むのである。

悪用すれば、聖賢がこう言っていたと知識をひけらかしたり、さも自分が発案したかのように振る舞い人々から尊敬されようとする悪害を生み出す。

現にそうした手法で信仰やビジネスで金儲けをしている人々はどの時代においてもある程度存在するが、自分がその仲間に入る必要はない。

そうした手口に手を染めた時点で聖賢の道は閉ざされたようなものである。

神の存在を肯定するも否定するも、対象が自然や宇宙の摂理であれ、畏れ敬うものを失った人間の暴走は人類のみならず関係のない自然界にまで影響を及ぼしてしまう。

そうした傲慢さを嗜めるためにも、聖賢の教えは有用といえる。

It is true that reading with a purpose helps you learn, but when it comes to the teachings of sages such as classics, it is a different story.

Calm your mind early in the morning, listen to their words, and let them sink in.

This does not mean to be brainwashed, but to reflect on your past actions and the environment around you, and let them sink in as a warning to your actions.

If misused, it can cause harm by showing off your knowledge by saying that a sage said something, or by acting as if you came up with the idea yourself, in order to be respected by others.

There are actually a certain number of people in every era who make money through faith or business using such methods, but you do not need to join them.

Once you get involved in such methods, the path of the sage is closed.

Whether you affirm or deny the existence of God, whether the subject is nature or the laws of the universe, the recklessness of humans who have lost something to revere will affect not only humanity but also the natural world, which is unrelated to them.

The teachings of the sages can be said to be useful in controlling such arrogance.
